A visa is a document that gives someone permission to travel into a specific country and stay there for a set period of time. Visas may be stamped or glued directly into a passport for convenience, or they may be issued separately in the form of documents, which must be carefully protected to ensure that they are not lost or stolen. It is a mandatory requirement to have a residency visa to avail below services:
  • Legalise your stay in UAE

The below mentioned countries are entitled for visa on arrival at UAE airport/border: France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands (Holland), Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Finland, Malta, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Malta, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria.

No. You are entitled to 100 per cent ownership of your company without any sponsorship regulations, as long as your company conducts business within the free zone or abroad. To sell your products in the UAE, you will need an official UAE agent.
The procedures for establishing a business in RAK FTZ are very straightforward, and can be completed in a short span of time, especially if there are no environmental issues involved. You must first fill out a questionnaire from RAK FTZ Authority. After submitting the questionnaire, you will be given a licence application. Provisional approval is given along with a specimen service or office lease agreement. You will need to lease land or offices (respective office services facilities) for your company. After the company representative and the authority have met and finalised details of the project, the actual documents – including company or personal details – will be speedily processed.
If you are establishing a branch in RAK FTZ, there is no minimum capital required. However, if you are establishing a Free Zone Establishment (FZE) or Free Zone Company (FZC), then the minimum capital requirement is AED 100,000.
Only one manager is allowed to be mentioned on the licence.
Based on the “Standard Classification of Economic Activities” issued by Dubai Economic Department, either you can get two different coded activities or seven similar coded activities i.e. under the same category.
No. The Free Zone Registration Fee is a one-time cost.
A RAK FTZ Free Trade Zone Company (FZC) & RAK FTZ Free Trade Zone Establishment (FZE) can open its branch anywhere inside or outside the UAE, but it is not allowed to open its branch in RAK FTZ because the mother company is originally registered with RAK FTZ. Moreover, an FZC and FZE can establish a fully owned subsidiary, and can also become a partner in another FZC in RAK FTZ.
It is highly recommended to apply for the renewal two months before the licence expiry date. If you exceed without renewing your licence, there will be a penalty of AED 50 a day starting directly from the next day of the licence expiry date.
The renewal invoice is generally emailed to your designated email address that you provided (as stored in our system) 60 days prior to your licence expiry date. However, you may also send an email to renewal@rakftz.com, and our Client Relations team will email the same to you for your reference. Please note that the invoice can be generated only two months before your licence expiry date.
RAK FTZ will strike off the registration of the company along with all related licences after completing six months from the licence expiration date. If later on, the company decided to de-register, RAK FTZ will accept to get the de-registration application for it and change the company status from strike off to de-registered once the whole de-registration (liquidation) process is completed. RAK FTZ will abscond companies in case of not renewing or de-registering their registered entities according to its rules and regulations.
Generally, licence expiry does not mean that a company has been canceled or deregistered automatically from the registration record. The client has to follow the proper process and fulfill the requirements to properly close down the company. If the client is not renewing the licence and lease deed or rental agreement, then RAK FTZ may strike the company from its list of registered clients.
The legal documents to be signed include the Memorandum of Association (MOA), Shareholder Resolution and the Transfer of Share Declaration letters.
Yes. It is possible for a FZE (Free Zone Establishment) / FZC (Free Zone Company) to have two licences. However, both licences will need to have the same manager, since they operate under the same operating name.
As per current policy, RAK FTZ is not attesting any Resolution or similar documents issued by third parties. This is purely Notary Public function and RAK FTZ cannot act as a Notary Public. Client can go to Notary Public in the UAE and have attestation from it. We will provide True Copy of Licence, Share Certificate, Ownership Letters, Good Standing Letters, etc. This is if the client requests us to support his attestation request at the Notary Public.
Generally, RAK FTZ is providing True Copy service if the desirable documents are issued by RAK FTZ such as Licence, Share Certificate, and Certificate of Formation, MOA, etc. If the documents are issued outside by other authority such as Power of Attorney, Good Standing Certificate etc. RAK FTZ will not provide a True Copy service to the client but for internal use of RAK FTZ only. It can make a True Copy and keep this True Copy in company file for internal use and give original back to the client. The client has to bear the cost of True Copy if he/she wants original documents back. Please note that the Corporate Resolution issued by the parent company in case of subsidiary & branches cannot be returned to the client. The original attested resolution should be kept with RAK FTZ and if client wants it back for any purpose then we can give it to the client only for temporary basis and subject to written undertaking taken in that regards.
